Airlines Meals

My husband urges me to start a blog on food, my favourite past-time. As I am a frequent traveller for the past 3 years and I still am due to hubby's around the globe job I shall start with my experience on airlines meals.

In between year 2006 and 2007, I flew with Malaysia Airlines, a direct flight to Heathrow Airport. Of course, the food was to my liking. I remember having rice and beef rendang as dinner with steamed vege and delicious dessert. An hour before arrival I had nasi lemak with squid sambal which was hot and spicy, fruits, low fat yogurt, orange juice and a cup of coffee.

In between year 2007 and 2008, I flew with Etihad Airways, a direct flight to Abu Dhabi International Airport. The food was very tasty. One of the best airlines meals I ever had. I had couscous and beef, prawn salad with cold noodles, croissant with butter and jam and a delicious dates cheese cake. As the journey only took 6 hours, I had a light snack before landing, a chicken sandwich and a mini kitkat. The most unforgettable experience was when my seat was upgraded to business class! That happened when I flew alone to Abu Dhabi. I remember having salmon teriyaki and cheese cake cum black forest ??

Somewhere in 2007, my trip to Rome was with Lufthansa Airlines. It wasn't a short journey though. From Amsterdam I flew to Frankfurt and board a connecting flight to Rome. I had a slice of cheese, probably cheddar stuck in between a stone cold bun (oh, no!) and a choco banana wafer style chocolate bar. Unfortunately these weren't to my liking :( Most probably I am used to hot and spicy meals.

On my birthday, November 2008, hubby decided to treat me with a special getaway birthday gift. We went to Andaman Langkawi and flew with Air Asia. We booked online tickets from Abu Dhabi. Oh no, we didn't fly to Langkawi from Abu Dhabi, of course. We left Abu Dhabi for good and went home. Boarding Air Asia was mad since no seat was pre-allocated to each passenger. Anyway, I had 1901 hotdog and hubby had nasi lemak. On the journey back we both had chicken beriyani. Food was good....

New year 2009, me and hubby flew to Channel Islands to start his new job. We board Malaysia Airlines to Amsterdam to avoid the hectic Heathrow Airport. Malaysia Airlines meal was delicious, of course. I had chicken curry for dinner and omelette just before landing. However the journey was shaky and scary as thunderstorm kept on targetting the aircraft! From Amsterdam, we board British Airways to Gatwick Airport in London. I had a cheese sandwich and an apple juice. In order to get to Guernsey, Channel Islands, we board a small aircraft, Flybe. The journey only took 45 minutes and I was already tired and dizzy and not in the mood to buy snack-on-plane.

Well, there goes my food experience with several airlines. As we are flying with Emirates and Aurigny soon, I shall update this page.

UPDATE: The last flight that I boarded to go back home for good was Qatar Airways. The food was delicious and the hospitality was great. Nowadays I don't go anywhere so there is no new post on airlines meals :(
