Today, 11 August 2010 is the first day of Ramadhan. Hubby was vey happy that he had a smooth journey to KL this time. We watched The Last Airbender and had buka puasa at Secret Recipe.
After a month in Malaysia I still miss Guernsey Island :(
I like puasa month in Guernsey. I can buka puasa with anything I feel like eating. I can have chocolates, ice creams and cakes. Although there were no solat terawih berjemaah I can still perform on my own. I was more in control of everything during puasa month in Guernsey. How I miss the Island.
When I was little opah used to make kuih for berbuka. Ubi kayu penjan, keladi gula, somsom air gula, anak dara sebilik, ketayap, kuih lapis banyak warna, bengkang ubi kayu, kuih talam santan putih, seri muka sekaya, etc....Many of those are not known by people not living with opah. Nowadays most kuih are very common that you can have them even during non-puasa month. Karipap, roti john, roti bum are normally found at weekly pasar malam.
For the main dish opah made anything other than normal lauk and sayur. I had bihun goreng, kueytiaw goreng, nasi ayam, nasi beriyani, nasi arab, etc....Once I had these I had no appetite for normal nasi and lauk. After solat maghrib I continued with kuih and watched tv.
