No Loss

This year's Ramadan witnesses the failure of myself to lose weight. I ate too much during buka puasa and lots of snacks afterwards. We had many times of mee rebus and mee bandung. Thanks to the paste in the packet - Adami. Now that Raya is coming next week I hope I can refrain from stuffing myself with more than enough Raya delicacies.

BUT how can I say no to lemang and rendang? And kuah kacang and nasi impit? I can say I am a bit lucky because the kuih tart supplier is out of business this year around. Otherwise I will be sitting on the couch with the cookie jar in front of the tv. You know we can lost track of time while watching our favourite programme on tv and we will be snacking away....

Buka Puasa Menu

Yesterday's buka puasa was delicious. We had mee rebus Muar. Not that I cooked of course. It came in a packet, a paste produced by FAMA. You just need to mix the paste with water and cook until it thickens. We add some freshly cut meat and fish balls.

Next, lightly boil some egg noodles and bean sprouts, both in separate pots then drain and put aside. Cut some onion springs, green chillies and tofus.

In order to serve the dish, place the egg noodles in a plate. Garnish with bean sprouts, spring onions, green chillies, tofus, half of hard boiled egg and fried shallots.

Lastly pour the thick mee rebus soup and enjoy!

I did make some kuih for buka puasa. Among the favourites are:

steam the pulut

after steaming with coconut milk and pressed

cut into shapes and coat with grated coconut

Kuih lopes is served with gula melaka syrup just like the one we had with sagu gula melaka.
